19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since that period of that year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a tight final set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
